Fixed Fee Agreements

For many straightforward traffic or criminal matters, we offer a fixed fee. This means you will know the total cost upfront, no surprises, no hidden charges.

Typical matters suitable for a fixed fee include:

  • Traffic infringements and licence matters
  • Minor criminal offences (e.g., summary offences with no complex evidence)
  • Court appearances for minor offences
  • Plea negotiations for straightforward cases

What’s included in a fixed fee?

  • Your fixed fee covers all agreed work up to a specified stage or outcome, including:
  • Initial advice and assessment of your matter
  • Preparation of necessary documents
  • Representation at sentences (where specified)

Any additional work outside the agreed scope will always be discussed and agreed before proceeding.

Variable (Hourly) Fee Agreements

For complex criminal or traffic matters, a variable fee may be more suitable.

This structure reflects the time, skill, and resources required to provide the best representation, especially for cases that involve:

  • Serious criminal offences (indictable matters)
  • Multiple charges or complex evidence
  • Appeals or contested hearings
  • Matters requiring expert reports or extensive investigations

How it works:

  • You are billed at Tyson’s hourly rate for work completed by him, which is billed in 6 minute increments.
  • Any work completed by support staff, will be billed at their rate, which is billed in 6 minute increments.
  • You will receive a clear cost estimate at the outset and regular updates as your matter progresses.
  • Itemised billing is available so you can see exactly how your costs are being applied.

Our Commitment to Transparency

  • Written costs disclosure: Before we start, you’ll receive a clear outline of fees and estimated costs.
  • Regular updates: You’ll be informed if additional costs may arise.
  • Flexible payment options: Staged payments or deferred billing may be available depending on your circumstances.
